American Cocker Spaniels
Family raised Cockers with Champion Pedigree's.
Most of our dogs are AKC Champions.
All our dogs are AKC Registered.

Welcome to Aj Kennels, where you will find information on
American Cocker Spaniels.

You will find that our Cocker Spaniels vary in colors and sizes.
We occasionally have Sables and Roans.
We are currently leaning toward show quality puppies in the standard colors.

If we do not have what you are looking for I might be able to help you.
As I may know of another breeder that might have what you are looking for.

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Aimee!

We are located where Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota meet.
Our family lives on a farm, our house sits on a acreage.
There is 150 acres plus of crop land surrounding us.

I have been involved with Cocker Spaniels since I was a child as my parents raised Cockers.
My brother and I would handle the puppies and play with them and give them silly names.
All I ever knew was a Cocker being our family dog.  We had a Champion black/white back in the day his name was Charlie, my father still to this day talks about him.
Our oldest Cocker "Jack" a silver buff male died at his old age of 17.

I did not start out wanting to be a breeder
.
I bought a black male named Gizmo and two years later got a female named Dutchess.
Years went by and they had a litter of puppies.
A buyer had researched Gizmo's pedigree and found that he had champions in his background.
I then started the search into pedigree's and looked into the Cocker Spaniel World more.
With this new information I wanted to learn more and I am continually researching and learning more and more it seems everyday. Who knows it all?

I have learned about Contracts, Shipping, Pedigrees, Payment types, Coat types, Genetics and now grooming my own Cockers.
Now a new adventure with our Cocker Spaniels which is showing.  Learning the in's and outs of show world and the verbage to go along with it.
I have learned some other tricks like how to keep parti's white, which shampoo's and conditioners to use, and which foods not to feed them and adding supplements.
We are starting to make our own dog treats because of the recent dog food/treat recalls.

I am on many cocker list including show and all bred dog lists so I can stay up dated with all the new products, what other breeders are doing, what works and what does not work.
As well as any recalls on toys, cages, food, ect.
I have really started to come a long way and I believe other peers can see that too.

We have three homebred champions and one bred by some one else.
We have finished four cockers in less than 6 months.
We have our first homebred Champion CH Aj's Lord Voldemort aka Riddle
Our 2nd homebred Champion is CH Aj's Neville Longbottom aka Neville
Our 3rd homebred Champion is Aj's I'm Parti Trained aka Tru
Our 4th Champion is CVJ's N Aj's Can't Buy Me Love
Two others bred by me out showing:
Aj's Pretty Is As Pretty Does aka Pretty
Aj's Life of the Parti aka Neu
and soon to be out showing
Aj's Lost in Translation aka Paris
We have three cockers produced by others out with our handlers as well.

The reason we do not show our cockers our self is because it is time consuming.
I rather delegate and be more efficient so I can manage to be with my children and also have my dogs finished.
Although these dogs are not handled by and finished by me in the near future I want to start learning how to handle my own dogs.

My Dad has been of great help, with his knowledge he helps me pick out the very best!
Note: January 5th 2007 we have decided to add my dad as a co-owner on all registration papers, as a way of saying thank you.
With the deepest gratitude I wish to thank my father who has brought me to this point of my life and inspired, touched and illuminated me through his love and passion for the
American Cocker Spaniel.

The boys

Nathan

Jaden

The boys love the dogs/puppies and they play with them just like I did when I was a child.
The boys love to play fetch with the dogs and tag with the puppies.
I try to make sure all my puppies go to great homes with loving owners.

Although I am mother to my boys I feel that I am a mother to my puppies.
Mothers never stop being mothers and they can not be compared with any other.
From the time the puppies are born to the time they leave our home I am a helping mother.
I try to make sure all the puppies get what they deserve and need just like my children.

I give away puppies once in a while to those who can't afford to purchase a quality cocker spaniel.
I do allow some of them to come with AKC papers, but they are with Limited Registration.
Spay/Neutering agreement
I also give them people who have children with special needs because I too have a child with special needs and know how much a puppy can help socially and mentally get through trying times.

Besides my love for cocker spaniels I try to give back to the community.
This year is going to be all about volunteer work.
I believe the boys will learn life lessons through hands on experience.

I also enjoy website design, take photos, reading a good book, movies, watching days of our lives, going to dog shows and traveling.
I try to make the best of what God has given me as we are only here temporarily.

My parents raised Cockers when I was a child and I still love them.
They are the all American family dog in my eyes.
