PEDIGREE

I am greatly disappointed that Joslin will no longer live at Aj Kennels.
It was a hard decision to let her go but it was the right decision for the breed.

From really the start Joslin had health issues.
She was seen by the vet many times because of her ears, she would
constantly get ear infections one right after another in both ears
and having to use the most powerful drugs available to her.
She was a good candidate for an ear ablation.

She also was very fat the whole time she was here from day 1.
I really needed to do a thyroid test on her because if you gave her
even a slight a bit more of food she would gain weight in pounds instantly.

Then the end of May 2011 while I was grooming on the floor of my kennel.
I had just shaved down Joslin but had her face left, but I let her go to run and play
and started on another girl to give a hair cut.   1/2 way through giving another
a cut Joslin came over and sat next to me just like normal and I started talking
to her as Joslin was always at my side, when I pet her head my heart had sank.
As I seen a cataract in her left eye if you were looking straight at her.
Having witnessed a cataract before I knew what she had.

A couple days later Joslin ended up in heat, great!
I could of done what some breeders in this breed would of done
just breed her and tell no one, as I have heard this being done more and more.
I also could been vindictive and bred her to my merle boy Bentley
to produce merles to get back at the breeder and the Lamar's but then again
those would blamed the merle that the cataracts came from him, which he does not
have eye issues so I didn't want to do that either.
I didn't want to breed her because that is what a good breeder does.
The puppies resulting from any litter would have the possibility of either being
inflicted themselves with cataracts or be carriers and to me
that just defeats the purpose of breeding and I know I wouldn't of kept anything.
So, Joslin did not get bred to any dog while here.
I am very glad that the breeding that was 6 months prior didn't take either.
Some times I think god shows us why he does what he does.

Joslin was 2 yrs old with cataracts in both eyes and before leaving
she acted blind and would run into everything including stuff
that she once use to run around with ease.
It was so sad to watch this happen to such a happy go lucky girl.

I met up with the person that originally got her from the breeder and
she is going to meet up with the Shirley in hopes that she takes her back.
My worst nightmare is that they put her down due to her eyes and all her other issues.
